London, Hamburg, New York, October 23rd - HYROX has today announced a key update to its Athlete Licensing System and Anti-Doping Standards.
Effective immediately (Thursday, October 23rd), any athlete aiming to qualify for an Elite 15 (E15) race via average time must now hold a valid HYROX Athlete License for their race result to be valid and qualify towards their official average time.
Key Info
This update means that, from today, Thursday, October 23rd onward, Pro race performances will count toward E15 qualification only if the athlete had an active license on race day.
A 24 Hour grace period for retroactive applications applies for athletes racing today, Thursday, October 23rd.
Results achieved since the introduction of the athlete license (September 1st - October 22nd) will remain in place and contribute to average times for E15 qualification; this change only affects results moving forward.
How to Apply
E15 athletes and those intending to qualify for an E15 race can apply for a license via the online application page at elite.hyrox.com
The athlete's license is valid for one season.
To benefit from wave 1 prioritisation, an athlete must meet the below performance criteria with a completed Pro time in the past 12 months of:
Singles Men: 57:04 Doubles Men: 51.48
Singles Women: 1:03:21 Doubles Women: 59.45
Strengthening the Sport
This change reflects the strength of support from elite athletes since the License program’s launch in September and ensures that all results that qualify athletes into the E15 have been produced by athletes signed up to the anti-doping code and meeting the expected standards of Elite competition.
By holding an Athlete License, athletes signal their intent to challenge for qualification and allow the Elite sport team at HYROX to be aware of their intentions and provide enhanced administrative support.
With growing adoption and engagement from the HYROX Elite Athlete Advisory Panel, HYROX is expanding the remit of the system, investing further into its administration, and ensuring the infrastructure is in place to support the next generation of elite competitors.
“We’ve had a groundswell of support from athletes who want clarity, consistency, and a fair shot. This change means that if you're aiming for E15 qualification via time, you need to be licensed. It ensures that the performances shaping the E15 leaderboard are clean, verifiable, and delivered under the right conditions” said Mat Lock, Technical Director at HYROX.
